Teen Patti Variants Compared: Classic, Joker, AK47 and Muflis
Classic compares the printed hands. Joker changes designated cards; AK47 specifically makes A, K, 4 and 7 wild. Muflis changes which hand wins rather than making cards wild. The same deal can therefore have different winners: set the variant and its house rules before comparing.
Method: a public-documentation guide, not a hands-on test of a Star build. Diagrams are illustrative. Sources & limitations
Choose the rule change, not just the name
A variant can change the cards you may substitute, the order used to compare hands, or another part of the round. Those are different switches. “Joker” is not a single rulebook: one table may nominate a rank, another a suit, and another each player’s lowest card. Ask which physical cards become wild and what each may represent.
For this comparison, use a standard 52-card deck, no printed jokers and no cash-value chips. The cards below are constructed examples, not a replay from a Star app. We are comparing hand evaluation, not claiming that a particular app offers all four modes.
For a digit-based scoring change, follow the 999 calculation examples. For a selection change, compare all four candidates in Best of Four. Neither uses the same mechanism as a nominated Joker.

| AK47 | A, K, 4 and 7 of every suit are wild | Strongest permitted completed hand wins | Substitution restrictions and ties |
| Muflis | Comparison order is reversed | Weaker ordinary hand wins | Ace treatment and same-category reversal |

Wild cards are not an extra category above Trail. They help construct a category. Nor does Muflis automatically make a low card into a joker. For the baseline ladder and comparison tool, use the hand-ranking guide.
One deal: keep these six physical cards fixed
Printed hand: Pair of 9s
Printed hand: Ace-high
Hand A: 9♠ 9♥ K♣. Hand B: 8♣ A♦ 7♥. No physical card is repeated. We replay this deal under four separate agreements; the rules do not change halfway through one round.
For the nominated Joker example, every 7 is wild. A wild may represent any rank and suit needed for the best valid hand; natural cards stay unchanged. No extra natural-hand bonus applies. For Muflis, Aces stay high in non-sequence hands. Different agreements require a fresh evaluation.

Classic: nothing substitutes
Neither hand is a sequence or a colour. A has two 9s, while B has three unmatched ranks. Compare categories before individual cards: B’s Ace does not beat A’s Pair. There is no reason to compare the King kicker against the Ace yet.
Joker: the 7 changes, but the Ace does not
Hand A contains no 7, so it stays 9♠ 9♥ K♣. In B, interpret 7♥ as A♥: the completed hand is 8♣ A♦ A♥. Aces beat 9s. A Trail is impossible because the natural 8 and Ace differ; a Pure Sequence is impossible because those two natural suits differ. Their ranks cannot make a three-card run with one substitute either.
This is a nominated-rank teaching rule. TeenPatti Royale’s linked Joker description instead nominates a suit. Applying that suit rule would change the wild set, so do not present our “all 7s” result as its app-specific result. The Joker guide explains how to record the chosen set.
AK47: three substitutions across the two hands
For A, K♣ represents 9♦, producing three 9s. For B, A♦ represents 8♦ and 7♥ represents 8♥, producing three 8s. The natural 8♣ cannot become a 9. A therefore wins even though B has two wild cards and A only one. See the AK47 worked substitutions for more completions.
Muflis: compare the original hands in reverse
Return to the printed cards; do not carry over the Joker or AK47 substitutions. Under the stated lower-hand convention, B’s High Card is weaker than A’s Pair and wins. Do not add 9 + 9 + K and compare a total against A + 8 + 7: this model reverses hand comparison, not arithmetic sums. The Muflis guide covers same-category and Ace decisions.
Why wild-card count and rarity cannot decide the winner
The number of wilds describes flexibility, not final strength. A fixed pair plus one wild can make a higher Trail than two wilds paired with a lower natural card. Compare the strongest permitted completion, then apply the mode’s tie policy if both completions have equal rank.
Changing the wild set also changes the distribution of completed hands. The classic hand-probability table must not be relabelled as AK47 odds. It counts printed three-card hands without substitution, not how often an AK47 hand resolves to a Trail or whether it wins against an opponent.
Write a five-line agreement before dealing
| Record | Example agreement for this lesson |
|---|---|
| Mode | Classic, nominated Joker, AK47 or Muflis; pick one |
| Wild set | None; all 7s; A/K/4/7; none, respectively |
| Substitution | Natural cards fixed; wilds can represent rank and suit |
| Ace and ranking | Ordinary category order except Muflis reversal; specify sequence order |
| Ties and ending | Equal-rank treatment and final Show procedure agreed separately |

Knowing which hand is stronger does not tell you who may request a comparison. Keep action eligibility separate and use the Show and Sideshow guide for that question. Use counters without monetary value when practising these examples.
Check your understanding
If the nominated Joker rank changes from 7 to 4, does B still win?
Not in the same way. Neither hand contains a 4, so neither substitutes. A’s Pair of 9s beats B’s Ace-high hand under the stronger-hand objective. The printed deal stayed fixed; changing the nominated set removed B’s Ace pair.
Can I combine AK47 with Muflis?
Only if that combined rule is explicitly defined. You would need to decide how substitution works when the goal is a low hand; the “best high completion, then reverse it” shortcut is not established by either name. It is outside this guide’s four separate models.
Which guide should I read next?
If you cannot yet identify the original categories, start with the ranking guide. If you can, resolve each permitted substitution on paper, then try Muflis without wilds. This order teaches one rule change at a time rather than treating more complicated play as automatically better.
